Inspecting and Testing for Mold

Inspecting and Testing for Mold

When it comes to mold inspections and mold testing there are a few important things to know in order to get the right service for your situation and not to be taken advantage of by paying for services you don’t need.

  1. The mold inspection is the most pivotal part of identifying a mold problem.
  2. Mold testing isn’t always needed but does have it’s benefits. It also has it’s limitations.
  3. There are multiple types of mold testing namely, air sampling for mold spores, dust collection for settled spores, viable sampling, bulk sample collection, surface sampling (tape life and swab), sampling for mycotoxins, and sampling for MVOCs (microbial volatile organic compounds). Each of these have pros and cons as well as benefits and limitations.
